PacketStream Cross Connect
Cross Connect is a physical (L1) interconnection service that links customer equipment, network providers, IXs, and cloud platforms inside a data center. It connects racks, equipment, and providers directly over optical fiber or copper, taking the shortest path.
Connection Media
Three media are available. Choose by distance and bandwidth.
| Media | Bandwidth | Distance | Use Case |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single Mode Fiber | Up to 100Gbps | Up to 40km | Long-distance high-speed connections |
| Multi Mode Fiber | Up to 100Gbps | Up to 2km | Short-distance high-density connections |
| Copper (Cat6) | Up to 10Gbps | Up to 100m | Standard Ethernet connections |
Performance
- Latency: Under 100 microseconds within a data center
- Availability: 99.99%
The path is a physically separated, dedicated circuit, so third parties cannot reach the transmission path.
Security Options
In addition to the base connection:
- Dedicated patch panel: Per-customer patch panel with secure cabling, labeling, and connection documentation.
- Armored cable: Armored Fiber and Armored Copper. Blocks physical damage and electromagnetic interference (EMI).
- Secure MMR: Meet Me Room access controlled by biometrics and card keys, with 24-hour CCTV surveillance, entry logging, and dual locks.
Connection Types
- Customer equipment: Rack-to-rack, server clusters, compute-to-storage, production-to-backup.
- Network providers: ISPs, carriers (KT, SKT, LG U+), global carriers and submarine cables, dedicated lines.
- IX: Direct connection and peering at internet exchange points such as KINX.
- Cloud platforms: AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute, Google Cloud.
Pricing
A single rate of ₩360,000 per month (VAT excluded), regardless of connection type or distance. Cable installation, a dedicated patch panel, 24-hour monitoring, and maintenance are included.
Options at extra cost: Armored Cable, redundant connection, 24-hour emergency support.
Installation
- Planning: Identify target equipment and locations, design the cable path, select media, review security requirements.
- Cabling: Lay cable, configure patch panels, test the connection, label and document.
- Activation: Complete the physical connection, configure the network, run performance tests, hand over.
- Operations: 24-hour monitoring, scheduled maintenance, fault response, change requests.
Use Cases
- High-performance computing: GPU clusters, distributed computing, real-time analytics, big-data transfer.
- Finance: Ultra-low-latency links for securities trading, real-time risk monitoring, data backup, compliance.
- Media and broadcasting: Equipment-to-equipment links, rendering farms, large media storage, live streaming.
