PacketStream Backup

Backup is a backup service exclusive to Virtual Servers. Backup data is encrypted with AES-256 and verified with SHA-256 checksums, and recovery averages under 5 minutes.

How it works

Set a backup policy in the console, and backups run automatically on the schedule you choose (daily, weekly, or monthly). The first backup is a full backup; after that, incremental backups store only changed data and deduplicate to save space.

Backups run in the background on idle resources, with Virtual Server workloads taking priority, so service is not interrupted. Backup speed adjusts automatically to system load. Backup data is replicated across multiple regions to maintain 99.999% availability and stays recoverable during a disaster.

Encryption and integrity

• Encryption: Data at rest and in transit are both encrypted with AES-256, and encryption keys are managed automatically.
• Integrity verification: Data is verified with SHA-256 checksums during backup and restore, and corruption is detected and alerted.
• Access control: Access to backup data is managed by permissions, and every backup and restore operation is written to an audit log.

Recovery

• Full recovery: Restore the OS, applications, and data to a chosen backup point. It runs in the background without interrupting service.
• Partial recovery: Restore only specific files or folders. It is faster than a full recovery.

Recovery is priority-based and completes in about 5 minutes on average.

How to use

1. Configure backup — In the Virtual Server console, set the backup frequency (daily, weekly, or monthly) and retention period, then enable automatic backup.
2. Automatic backup — Incremental backups run on the configured schedule, and you are notified on completion.
3. Recover — Restore by point in time or by individual files when needed.
