Virtual Server
PacketStream Virtual Server is a KVM virtual server. Pick one of five instance families to match your workload, and manage it identically through the web console or the API.
How it works
- Create — Choose an instance family and size from the console or API. The instance boots in about 30 seconds.
- Configure — Processor, memory, storage, and network are determined by the family and size you pick. The default OS disk is created on the NVMe Flash tier.
- Operate — Manage it identically through the web console and API. Instances attach to a dedicated backbone with baseline DDoS mitigation.
Traffic is granted as a daily allowance derived from the instance’s monthly transfer. Speed is throttled once the daily allowance is exhausted.
Note The limit is a daily allowance, not a monthly pool. If usage spikes on a single day, that day can be throttled even when monthly transfer remains.
Instance Families
Key Specifications
Virtual Server runs on KVM hardware virtualization, and every instance is x86-64. The processor depends on the family (AMD EPYC 3rd Gen, AMD 5000/9000 Series, or Intel Xeon E5-v4), and network bandwidth is up to 25 Gbps per instance.

Storage
The default OS disk is provisioned on the NVMe-backed Flash tier. Depending on the workload, you can choose among the Archive, Hybrid, Flash, and Express tiers, and attach additional capacity by creating a Block Storage volume.
Networking
Instances run on a dedicated backbone with baseline DDoS mitigation included. Traffic is provided as a daily allowance derived from the instance’s monthly transfer, and speed is throttled once the allowance is exhausted. For MTU recommendations, port policy, and more, see the Network Policy.
