Virtual Server Detailed Specs
This page summarizes the hardware configuration and performance characteristics of each instance family. For per-instance vCPU, memory, traffic, and pricing, see the Plans page.
Processors
Each family uses a processor matched to its target workload. All instances are x86-64.
| Family | Processor | Architecture | Characteristics |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compact (c1i) | Intel Xeon E5-v4 | x86-64 | Cost-efficient |
| General Purpose (g2a) | AMD EPYC 3rd Gen | x86-64 | Balanced, general-purpose |
| High-Frequency (hf1a) | AMD 5000/9000 Series | x86-64 | High clock, single-thread |
| Compute Optimized (co2a) | AMD EPYC 3rd Gen | x86-64 | Compute-intensive |
| Memory Optimized (mo2a) | AMD EPYC 3rd Gen | x86-64 | Large memory |
Memory
Every family uses ECC memory. The High-Frequency family ships with DDR4 or DDR5 depending on the processor generation.
| Family | Memory Type | ECC |
|---|---|---|
| Compact (c1i) | DDR4 | Yes |
| General Purpose (g2a) | DDR4 | Yes |
| High-Frequency (hf1a) | DDR4 / DDR5 | Yes |
| Compute Optimized (co2a) | DDR4 | Yes |
| Memory Optimized (mo2a) | DDR4 | Yes |
Storage Performance
The default OS disk is provisioned on the NVMe-backed Flash tier. Performance by storage type is as follows.
| Type | Max IOPS | Characteristics |
|---|---|---|
| SSD | ~8,020 | Balanced read/write, general-purpose |
| NVMe | ~18,400 | Low latency, high-performance databases |
If you need additional capacity or a different performance tier, create and attach a Block Storage volume.
Virtualization
- Platform: KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine)
- Hardware virtualization: Intel VT-x / AMD-V
- Provisioning: Instance creation in ~30 seconds
Network
- Instance bandwidth: Up to 25 Gbps
- Backbone: Dedicated backbone with 800 Gbps+ capacity
- DDoS mitigation: Included by default
- Traffic: Provided as a daily allowance derived from the monthly amount; throttled when exceeded
For MTU recommendations, port policy, AnyCast routing, and other network details, see the Network Policy.
